This will be your first and ever great experience in the Indochina. With the arrival in the ancient city Luang Prabang and departure in the World’s Wonder city of Siem Reap, our classic tour covers almost the main cities and attractions of the area, with combined transfers of planes, cars and boats. You will have various chances to admire the beautiful landscapes such as spectacular view of Halong Bay, Kuangsi Waterfall, Tam Coc caves, Cuchi tunnels, interesting cultural cities Hue, Hoi An, etc. And from Hochiminh City down to Mekong Delta, along the immense river to Phnom Penh, passing rural sights on the way and finally explore the magnificient Angkor Temples.

 

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 ARRIVAL – LUANG PRABANG

Arrive in Luang Prabang in the afternoon. Transfer to hotel. Free time and overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 2 LUANG PRABANG

This morning you may want to wake up early and participate in the daily early morning ritual of saffron-clad monks with their black Alms-giving bowls being given offerings from the local people, including the ubiquitous sticky rice.

Breakfast, you will visit Wat Visoun, Wat Khili and Wat Mai. Then after a short break visit National museum, we visit Phousi Market where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit the Ban Ouay, Hmong Hill tribe, Ban Ou, Lowland Lao and Ban Thapene of Khmu village. Late afternoon we then climb up to the top of Phousi Mount for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. From there, we explore Street Night Market, where you can find the lovely collection and handmade textile by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 3 LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU CAVES – BAN XANG HAI

After breakfast, we enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represent the classical architecture of Luang Prabang temple. We then board a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the distillation of local rice wine. On return, we take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xienglek, well known for its hand-made of Jute Sar paper. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4 LUANG PRABANG – KUANGSI WATERFALL - VIENTIANE

Morning driving to the beautiful Kuangsi Waterfall where you can splash around in the pools or walk along the forest paths, return to Luang Prabang with a stopover at Ban Phanom, a well known weaving village. Fly to Vientiane QV 102 at 13:30 – 14:15. Upon arrival, we embark on one hour drive southeast of the city to Buddha Park.  It is a fanciful sculpture garden full of Buddhist and religious images dating back over 500 years. Of particular interest is a giant concrete pumpkin, its interior consists of three levels representing hell, earth and heaven. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 5 VIENTIANE - HA NOI

After a breakfast, we start visiting the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. Visit Morning Market then transfer to airport for afternoon flight to Hanoi. Welcome you at Noi Bai international airport of Hanoi capital. Drive through fertile Red River delta to reach the city. Relax at your comfortable hotel. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 6 HA NOI

We visit Ho Chi Minh’s Quarter includes Mausoleum, House-on-stilts, Museum called by his name and  One-pillar pagoda locating in the area – one of the oldest pagoda in Vietnam built in 11 th century. Visit Van Mieu (Temple of Literature) – The first university in Vietnam.  View the Gothic style of Central Catholic Church and Hanoi Opera under shadow trees. The image of new and old buildings interposing with high shadow trees is the easiest feature to recognize in Hanoi and in many cities of Vietnam. Mid-afternoon you get on a cyclo to petrol round the exciting Old Quarter of Hanoi and Hoan Kiem Lake – The Heard of the city. Enjoy Water Puppet Show – Vietnam traditional art in the evening.. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 7 HANOI - NINH BINH

Morning drive to Ninh Binh town (110 km) to visit unspoiled villages and immense green rice fields in the center of the Red river’s Delta – the biggest rice basket in the North Vietnam. We pass a lot of picturesque sceneries when go through the town, city, rivers, rice fields…. We get on a small boat along the small canal in the rice field to visit Tam Coc Caves considered as “Halong Bay on land”. Visit Bich Dong Temple and relics of Hoa Lu ancient Kingdom (Dinh dynasty in 10th century). Mid afternoon transfer to Kenh Ga to take a boat trip to see fish floating village and enjoy nice view in the surroundings. Overnight in Ninh Binh.

Day 8 NINH BINH - HA LONG – JUNK CRUISE

Morning transfer to Halong (200 km) to board on a nice junk cruise to take a Ha Long Bay cruise over 2,000 islands that just our of the sea to provide a spectacular natural environment. Boarding the Junk, a welcome drink is served before sitting down to a sumptuous seafood lunch in the dining room. We cruise through the magnificent bay of Ha Long that’s declared a World Heritage Site in 1994. There is opportunity to explore some of the beautiful and awesome grottoes with our guide on board. In the evening, dinner will be served on boat, after which we can experiment with some night fishing, before settling into our comfortable cabins for the night.

Day 9 HA LONG – HANOI - HUE

Enjoy our last morning on board of the junk cruise to admire the spectacular view of the bay.  Disembark the junk at 11:30 and drive back to Hanoi. Transfer to airport to take evening flight to Hue VN 1545 at 20:10 – 21:20. Overnight in Hue.

Day 10 HUE

Today we have whole day to visit one of World’s Heritage in Hue city – the former Kingdom  of the 143  year  Nguyen Dynasty. Boat trip on the Perfume river to visit Royal Thien Mu Pagoda and Minh Mang Mausoleum. Afternoon we visit Imperial Citadel – The most important part of Hue city and Dong Ba Market. Evening enjoy Hue folk song program on boat along Perfume River. Night in Hue.

Day 11 HUE – DANANG – HOI AN

A.M. Visit Tu Duc and Khai Dinh King’s Mausoleums, and a a village making conical hats.

P.M. Drive to Hoi An via the imposing Hai Van mountain pass, a part of Truong Son mountain range running down to the sea to cut in the high way. Stopover in Danang to visit Marble mountains. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 12 HOI AN – MY SON – HOI AN

Visit Hoi An ancient Town – another World’sHeritage of a forgotten seaport from 17th century well reserved until now. Wevisit a Chinese temple, Japanese bridge and an ancient house of mixing style from Vietnam, China and Japan.You can buy some small ancient ceramic gifts as souvenir here with surprisingprice. Afternoon visit another World Heritage waiting us today in the South West of Danang. It is My Son Hollyland – the religious center of Powerful Champa Kingdom from 6 th to 16 th century, with relics of temples, steles and carving statues showing a thriving life of people here at one time. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 13 HOI AN - DANANG – HOCHIMINH CITY

Free time in the morning until transfre to Danang airport to take noon flight VN 1313 at 11:15 – 12:25 to animated Hochiminh City. We visit the most typical places in the city: Notre Dame Cathedral, Central post office, the City Hall, War Museum, Ben Thanh Market. Night in HCMC.

Day 14 HOCHIMINH CITY - CU CHI TUNNELS

Visit Cuchi Underground Tunnel – a famous battle field in Vietnam War closed to Saigon City . Then in the afternoon we visit China town, Thien Hau Temple by cyclo. Overnight in HCMC

Day 15 HOCHIMINH CITY – CAI BE - VINH LONG

Drive to Vinh Long  – one of the 12 fertile provinces of the Mekong Delta. Boat trip on the great Mekong river to see Cai Be floating market. Several stops to see local people making rice paper, coconut candy, popcorn, etc. Continue by small boat  rowing in small canal and then the boat take us to enthusiastic homestay at Minh Island. Check in, make friend with the members of the family. Walk around the village or garden, and do cooking for your dinner. We enjoy diner and have cup of tea or rice wine when talking together. You can ask about the culture, people, history of this Island. They do not mind to answer some personal questions. Overnight at local house (Private room)

Day 16 VINH LONG - CAN THO

Have a breakfast and walk along the village to enjoy the fresh air in the morning. Boat trip to visit the brick kilns where you can see how the local people create beatiful potteries from clay. We can visit Vinh Long market in the town. This is the best choice for you to take pictures of fish, shrimps, prawns, crabs, snakes, rice-field rats, tropical fruits, vegetable… The cruise will end at around 10:30 in Vinh Long town, where we rejoin the ca and continue to Can Tho city. Visit Khmer pagoda. Take a bicycle tour along village path to Ba Cong Garden. Visit fruits garden and enjoy fresh fruits. Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 17 CAN THO – CHAU DOC

Early morning we visit authentic Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho‘s outskirt, the biggest fruit and vegetable market in the delta. Then we drive to Chau Doc, which has a well-known mosque across the River in Chau Giang district and a number of pagodas and temple at Sam Mountain (Mother of the Region). Afternoon transfer 25 km to Tra Su Cajuput Forest and from there we take a boat trip to visit Tra Su ecological forest in the area of over 800 ha. There are so many of bird kinds here above the evergreen Cajuput trees living almost around the year in water. We can take rowing boat to travel deeper inside the forest to study about the rich fauna and flora here. Return to the dry land to visit Tay An ancient Pagoda and Sam Mountain to view Cambodian border at Sunset.  Overnight in Chau Doc.

Day 18 CHAU DOC – PHNOM PENH

Morning transfer to port for speed boat to Phnom Penh (07:00 – 12:00). Complete formality at Vinh Xuong Gate to enter Cambodia. Upon arrive in Phnom Penh at pier, our guide will pick up and transfer to hotel for check in. Afternoon visit Wat Phnom, a small hill crowned by an active wat (pagoda) marks the legendary founding place of the Phnom Penh. Independence Monument was inaugurated in November 9, 1962 to celebrate Cambodia’s independence from foreign rule. And shopping at Central Market. Overnight at hotel in Phnom Penh.

Day 19 PHNOM PENH

Breakfast will be at hotel. Today we will visit Royal Place, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda, Raung Damrei Museum. The Palace building and Silver Pagoda are located with in the same walled ground. The Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles. The treasures include a solid gold Buddha encrusted and weighing 90 kilos and a small 17th century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha. And then move to National Museum of Fine Arts, next to the Royal Palce was dedicated by king Sisowath in 1920. Over 5000 objects are on display including Angkorian era statues, lingas and other artifacts, most notabley the legentary statue of the “Leper King” Though the emphasis is on Angkorian artifacts, there is also a good collection of pieces from later periods, including a special exhibition pf post-Angkorian Buddha figures. Lunch will be at local restaurant. Afternoon visit to Notorious Tuol Sleng Museum. In 1975 Tuol Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot’s security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21). It soon became the largest such center of detention and torture in the country. More than 17.000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeung Ek to be executed; detainees who died during torture were buried in mass graves in the prison ground. The museum displays include room after room of these photographs of men, women and children covering the walls from floor to ceiling; virtually all the people pictured were later killed. Continue to visit Kiling Field of Cheung Ek is situated 15 kilometers south-west of Phnom Penh and made famous by the film of the same name “Killing Field”. it was a place where more than 17,000 civilians were killed and buried in mass graves; many of them transported here after detention and torture in Toul Sleng. This place is a chilling reminder of the brutalities of the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime. In the center of the area is a 17 story glass stupa which houses 8000 skulls exhumed from mass graves. And overnight at the hotel.

Day 20 PHNOM PENH - SIEM REAP BY OVERLAND

After breakfast, drive to Siem Reap by overland (without guide) and have chance to see the countryside. The journey will take 6 hours to covered 314 km distance. Arrive Siem Reap transfer to hotel. Afternoon we will visit the earliest temples of Angkor area the Roluos Group. The monuments of Roluos, which served as the capital of Indravaraman I (reigned 877-89), are among the earliest large, permanent temples built by the Khmer classical art. Preah Ko, erected by Indavaraman I in the late 9th century and dedicated by the King to his ancestors in 880- Bakhong, the largest and the most interesting of the Roluos group temples, with his active Buddhist monastery just to the north of the east entrance Lolei, the four brick towers are replicas of the ones at Preah Kho, built on an islet in the center of large reservoir by Yasovarman I the founder of the first city of Angkor. Watch the sunset over Angkor Wat from Phnom Bakheng hill. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 21 SIEM REAP

Breakfast will be at hotel. Then visit the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk) the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century) and visit Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), Baphun temple,  the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King and visit the fabulous Ta Prohm Temple, embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees. Lunch will be at local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the 7th world heritage, Angkor Wat a unique and stunning blend of spirituality and symmetry, an enduring example of man’s devotion to his Gods. It is the largest and undoubtedly the most breath taking of the monuments of Angkor and it is widely believed that it is the largest religious structure in the world. Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 22 SIEM REAP – BANTEAY SREY TEMPLE - DEPARTURE

This morning we drive to visit the Banteay Srei, the beautiful ‘Women’s Citadel’. Located 37 kms. From Siem Reap town, this was Cambodia’s last major Khmer temple to be re-discovered. This temple has the best engravings among all the ruins and was used in the film ‘Lara Croft Tomb Raider’. then move to Banteay Samre built in the third quarter of the 12th century. Lunch will be at local restaurant. Afternoon Take a traditional wooden boat for a ride on the Tonle Sap Lake, the “Great Lake” of Cambodia, one of the largest in Asia and flows into Tonle Sap River, joining the Mekong in Phnom Penh. We will see a fishermen’s “floating village” with floating schools, floating police station, etc. It is same as a big village floating on the lake, and the “village” move from place to place following water levels and current. Next visit the Old Market where you can see the fresh local produce being sold as well as browse the souvenir stalls. Transfer to airport for evening flight to Hochiminh City VN 812 at 18:20 – 19:20. End of the tour.
